Welcome to St. Peter's Restoration webpages. We are undertaking an ambitious and overdue restoration of St. Peter's church building and rectory, and we want our parishioners and our neighbors to know what we're doing as it happens.
Our first priority is to replace the original tin roof on the church building. We're all amazed that the original 1837 roof has lasted this long, and our hope is to restore and maintain it for the next 180 years!
Before a new roof can go on the church, however, we needed to install scaffolding around the church, evaluate the sill plates, the trusses, and the roof decking; remove the current roof, install an underlayer to seal the roof, and then put the metal exterior roof on. We also need to restore the cornices along the north-south walls of the church to channel the rain water off the roof.
We'll keep you posted about the work on our buildings and updates on our progress as we go. If you have questions or would like to make a donation to St. Peter's to help with the restoration costs or our programs, click here or send your check to St. Peter's Restoration Fund at the address below.
